Bierpapst Conrad Seidl – The Beerpope
Conrad Seidl is a beer writer based in Vienna, Austria, and he is known as “Bierpapst” – which means „The Beerpope” or “pope of beer”. He has published several books on beer in German including “Conrad Seidls Bier-Katechismus” on beer-styles and “Conrad Seidls Bier-Guide” which is an almanac of brewing in Austria as well as the Good Beer Guide to his country. Conrad contributed to many international publications on beer including “The Beer Book” (edited by Tim Hampson), „Beer Hunter, Whisky Chaser“ (a tribute to Michael Jackson), “Beer – Eyewitness Companions” (edited by the late Michael Jackson) and “Oxford Companion to Beer” (edited by Garret Oliver).
He is conducting tastings, beer-dinners and seminars for consumers as well as for marketers. He is writing regularly for “Der Standard”, “Brewer’s Guardian”, “Der Getränkefachgroßhandel”, and “Falstaff”. Conrad is a beer-judge and has judged at the World Beer Cup, the Brewing Industry International Awards, the Beer International Recognition Awards, the New Zealand Beer Award, the Helsinki Beer Festival and the Mondial de la Biere to name a few.
